Minute of the meeting:

1.     Presentation of the function of the Islamic Federation of women Sport after  the 11^th  general assembly (Malaysia, 2007-10-27/28)

2.     Presentation of the report on the held of "Paralympics Table Tennis classification Training Course" in Iran (2008-4-29 to 2008-5-1)

Then they discussed about the:

·         "Barriers for presence of Muslim women in sport activities"

·         Introducing the candidates of the next "Effort Award".

·         Providing a comprehensive data bank for referees, coaches and classifiers for Paralympics and ordinary people.

Approvals:

1.     Follow the absence of some members of the committee; it was ordained to inform them in a letter that in case of further absence, they will be replaced by another person as the member of the committee.

Mr. DeVoss is going to investigate the conditions of holding the training courses such as "Table Tennis Coaching Training Course" in Iraq and also in Turkey.

• It was requested from IPC, to increase the shares of Islamic countries in Paralympic Games for Beijing Games 2008, due to their special cultural beliefs and  religious observations
• As IFWS organizes Women Islamic Games every 4 years, it seems necessary for the members to organize different sport competitions for disabled female athletes, to improve their technical knowledge and abilities before the Games
• It was requested from IFWS and IPC to allocate special places for Islamic countries in different committees of APC, to encourage them for greater presence in competitions and other events related to disabled athletes

It was requested to organize training courses for women in coaching, refereeing, classification, sport management and other arenas related to disabled women issues, to improve their knowledge for greater participation in different events

The Special Gathering of Women with Special Needs Committee of IFWS:

This Meeting was held with the great contribution of Sir Datuk Zainal Abu Zarin, esteemed president of APC and the representative of IPC in Asia, due to the previous request made by the Islamic Federation of Women Sport (IFWS) in Malaysia, coincident with the 9^th FESPIC Games and the General Assembly of APC, in order to extend the contribution of IFWS with other Asian countries in disable women issues.

Approvals:

·         To bring proper opportunities for famous female athletes to give speeches in congresses and schools for encouraging and motivating young girls to do sports and physical activities

·         Each active committee of Federation should prepare at least 10 educational brochures related to sports and their activities and publish it in the website of Federation. It could be educational posters or CD in sport nutrition, Relaxation Techniques or etc.

·         Preparing a complete list of different activities in other committees of IFWS, which needs the bilateral contribution with Sport Development Committee for extending these collaborations

·         Sending the last educational and developmental information to the Public Relations Department of IFWS for putting in the website of Federation

·         Organizing Sport Management Workshops with the kind contribution of IOC and IPC in Sudan and Iran, and inviting the neighbor countries to participate

·         Organizing training courses in Table Tennis, Shooting, Badminton, basketball, Swimming, Squash and Volleyball in Sudan

·         Contributing with the sport Development Committees of other international organizations

·         Organizing regional congresses

This meeting got started with the welcoming message of Mrs. Faezeh Hashemi as the President of IFWS.

The objectives of this meeting:

-          Administering the annual calendar of the year 2006

-          Decision making for executing the proposed events

-          Finding a proper place for organizing the events

-          Evaluating the calendar of activities for the years 2007 to 2009

-          1Collecting suggestions and points of views

Note:

After observing the 2006 annual calendar and discussing the possibility of organizing some sport events for disable women by members of the committee in different countries, due to the coming month of Ramadan and some political problems in Iraq and Lebanon, the members were suggested to discuss the possibility of organizing these events with the authorities in their countries and communicate with IFWS for final decision making;

Approvals:

• Mrs. Devoss accepted to discuss the possibility for hosting the “Management and Leadership Courses for Organizing Special Competitions for Disable Women” with the kind contribution of Global Sport Partners Company (GSP) in Turkey (Istanbul), Cyprus or Jordan.
• The coaching and classification courses for disable women in Table Tennis and Athletics will be held by Global Sport Company in Qatar or Iran from 1^st to 3^rd November 2006, and after making the necessary arrangements the GSP will communicate with the Islamic Federation of Women Sport about the exact time and place.
• The refereeing and classification courses for disable women in Swimming and Shooting will be held in Qatar.
• It was suggested to organize Chess competitions for blinds in Kuwait, Bahrain or United Arab Emirates; and IFWS is responsible to communicate with these countries for encouraging one of them to host this event for 2 days.
• The member countries are responsible to organize Wheelchair riding competitions in the International Day of Paralympic in their own countries, and in case of having no facilities for holding such competitions, they should organize walking events in the special schools for disables.
• The first meeting of the committee members was held in Tehran and the next meeting will be the gathering of authorities and representatives from Islamic countries, and after communicating with Mr. Zeinal Abuzarin, it will be held in Malaysia coincident with the FESPIC Games.
• For observing the calendar of year 2007, according to the votes of present members in the meeting it was determined to discuss about it in the first months of 2007, because 3 members of the committee were absent.
• All the present members agreed to have this meeting, once a year.

The members were asked to collect the statistical information about the history of sports among disabled women in their countries, including the number of disabled female athletes, their interest in sport events, and their experiences during the time of establishment.
